PostSubject: ANybody here want to be a backup spriter?   Thu Aug 16, 2007 10:06 pm

I got a spriter to do this stuff for me, but if all else fails, I will need a backup sprite. With GM pro I can code now so I can make TB strategy games which is what I want to make.

Ill just show you guys what I showed hium, I know him in real life too so you cannot just replace him. I only got one faction figured out.

Sprites

All units will need eight sprites, one for each direction. Each Unit will also need sprites for moving in each direction and shooting in eight directions. Thatís a total of 24 sprites for each units(more for certain ones).

Make them look good, you can make huge sprites that look good when their small and make the game screen view everything as if it were smaller(but only go up to twice as large as they should appear in the game)

Infantry sprites

Infantry unit sprites will have the following setup for each direction
The Dots represent the location of an infantryman in each different sprite and the arrow is the direction they are facing in.

Infantry units come in squads of 5 people each, but will act as a single unit. Get what im saying?

Infantry units that need sprites

Infantry-
Will look like a US infantry man nowadays, minus the armor.

Support infantry-
Will look like infantry, but one guy in the squad needs a rocket launcher and one needs to have a mortar.

Heavy infantry-
Will look like US infantry nowadays.

Guardsmen-
Not sure, make them look like Infantry, but a little different, maybe a mark on their helmets or shoulder or something. They also need sprites for digging foxholes and need ones for being inside foxholes.

Heavy Guardsmen-
Like Heavy infantry, but with a mark of some sort on them similar to the Gaurdsmen.

Marines-
Make them look like Heavy infantry, but with some kind of marking(each time a say marking you could just use slightly different colors too).

Assault marines- like marines but 3 guys need combat knives.

Spec Ops Ė
Guys in black suits.

Warrior-
Hard to describe, look them up, itís a new US infantry outfit.

Vehicles-
The majority of vehicles will take up the space of an infantry squad(we will call it one space).
Ill tell you how many spaces each one takes up, but youll have to research what they look like yourself.

Jeep-
1x1. You should know what this one looks lie.

Armored jeep-
1x1-just add some little armor plates on the sides.

HMMWV-
1x1. Itís a Humvee with the name spelled correctly. You should know what these look like.

M113-
1x1. Its an APC, you can type in the name to see what it looks like. Even better, this site will show you pictures of most of these http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/index.asp

Avenger-
1x1.HMMWV with missle launchers on top.

FAV-
1x1, itís a dune buggy with a machine gun.

LVTP7-
1x1. Look it up.

Stryker-
1x1. Look it up.

M113(Mortar)-
1x1. An m113 with a mortar.

LAV-
1x2. Look it up.

SICPS-
1x1 or 2x2, look it up.

Vulcan-
1x1. M113 with a chaingun.

FAT-
1x2. Look up on google images or something, type in light tank.

M1A1-
1x2 or 2x2.An early abrams. Has no grenade launchers visible or machine gun on top of the turret.
M1A2-
1x2 or 2x2. An abrams with a machine gun on top. Make the color scheme a little different too.

M1A3-
1x2 or 2x2. An abrams with a machine gun on top and grenade laucher tubes sticking out of the sides of the turret. Make the color scheme a little different too.

ACE-
1x2. Look it up.

MLRS-
1x2. Look it up.

Paladin-
1x2 or 2x2. Look it up.

M777-
1x1 or 2x2. Traditional artillery.

Mammoth Tank-
2x2 or 3x3 or 3x4. Search C&C mammoth tank on google images and you should find one.

Battle Bots-
1x1. Will look like the Pack bot on that website.

Heavy battle Bot-
2x2, Like the above one but bigger and with more weapons.

E-RGS-
1x2. Should llok like an MLRS but with a very large gun on back rather than a rocket turret.

All of these units, if your wondering, will be only the US faction units. There will be about 2 to 4 other major factions and lots of smaller ones. The smaller ones will use certain low level units from nearby major factions unit lists.

Below is the stats list.

When buying infantry, you get them in sets of 4 squads. Vehicles come in sets of 3 and units with the Single special only come in one a set.

The player can buy officers, who then have slots(from 1 to 6) to buy a unit slot(each one gives either an infantry set or a vehicle set) which then fills up the slot, which limits how many units you can have. Armies are limited to 4 officers each.

Also, when buying officers each slot would be designated by
Unit types- Infantry, light vehicle, heavy vehicle
And
Group-in this case, Army(A), National Guard(NG), Marine Corps(M) or Special Forces(S)

Here is the list. The far left box indicates unit slot type, the first part being their group, second their level(officers go from level one to two, level twos can buy better units) and third, the unit type(I, LV or HV)

Armor nullifies damage, HP is, well, HP.
Weapons lists will be provided later, they determine damage. The x# means how many times they can use that weapon. Speed is the amount of moves they have per turn(shooting takes up two, moving a space one).

About shooting and moving. Moving a space uses 1 move. Shooting uses 2, however, if a unit has not moved and only shoots, it will use up its moves but will be able to use all of its shots.

If our infantry moved once and shot once they would have used all of their moves, but since they moved they will not be able to shoot anymore. You cannot however move more than you have moves left.

The game would operate on turns, each player would take a turn and be able to use all of their units moves(not just one unit per turn, ALL of them).

Thatís about it for now and its already six pages long.

Oh, and unit descriptions.

Infantry-
Standard US infantry, either volunteers or draftees, are cheap yet still superior over other factions light infantry.

Support Infantry-
A support squad, fielding heavy weapons

Heavy Infantry-
Standard US heavy infantry, are relatively cheap but still more effective than other factions counterparts.

Guardsmen Ė
Volunteers of the National Guard. They have since resumed their defensive roles and get a bonus when used in defensive actions.

Heavy Guardsmen-
Better equiped than regular Guardsmen, they come at a higher price.

Marines-
They are the Standard US multi purpose infantry squad. Armed to deal with both infantry and vehicle threats and faster than regular infantry.

Assault Marines-
A volunteer outfit in the marine corps, they trade long range weapons and armor for close range weapons and speed.

Special Operations Squad-
Equipped to wreak havok behind enemy lines.

Warrior-
A program initially meant to better equip troops ended in a superior outfit of the best US soldiers. Armed with rail gun rifles, heavy weapons, and anti tank weapons they are the single best all round infantry.

Jeep-
Dating back to the second World War, they were put into service due to the lack of light vehicles.

Armored Jeep-
A jeep with heavier armor.

HMMWV-
High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, many of you know it as the Hummer

M113-
A rather old design, the M113 is still a reliable APC.

Avenger-
M113 with anti air missles.

Fast Attack Vehicle-
A buggy with a machine gun, very fast, but very weak.

LVTP7-
An APC that goes through the water.

Stryker-
An APC that also has several support functions

M113(Mortar)
An M113 with a mortar attached.

LAV-
Light Armored Vehicle. Like a light tank.

Armored Car-
Very fast, unarmed APC.

SICPS-
A mobile Battle command, greatly increases morale and provides large area of sight.

Vulcan-
M113 with chainguns attached.

FAT-
Fast Attack Tank. A very fast medium tank.

M1A1-
Itís the First real Abrams! Superior Main Battle Tank.

M1A2-
Another Abrams! Superior Main Battle Tankx2.

M1A3-
Another oneÖ Superior Main Battle Tankx3

ACE-
An old combat earthmover equipped with plasma torches.

MLRS-
Fires lots of long range rockets every other turn.

Paladin-
Cross between a tank and artillery.

M777-
Traditional Artillery.

Mammoth-
A huge tank, twice as wide as an M1 and nearly 3 times as long it sports two huge cannons as well as a Heavy Machinegun, a rocket launcher and a missile launcher all on its turret, not to mention the two machine guns off either side of the chassis.

Battle Bots-
Relatively Small Battle Robots. Adds morale, but never loses it.

Heavy Battle Bot-
Real big battle bot, nearly the size of a mammoth tank big, with a lot of guns.

Experimental-Rail Gun System-
Using a large railgun it can fire either a beam of plasma or two Depleted uranium rounds.

Army(A)-
The traditional fighting force of the US encompases draftees and volunteers to form the backbone of the US military forces.

National Guard(NG)-
Having resumed its role of defending the National Guard has primarily defensive units.

Special Operations(S)-
What its name says.

Marine Corps(M)-
A volunteer outfit, they are the best of the best.

Edit: the size of the text box screwed up the graph of unit stats! Thats frustrating, ill try and fix it.

I would be happy to be a backup spriter. I think it would be a lot of fun. Let me know if I have the job. Thanks.
