Now that I have your attention I will explain this.
You guys recently created a forum game. I got my own idea and came up with my own system and I was wondering whether it was any good or not.
(has no name)
It is a strategy game that incorporates tactics, large quantities of units, money, supplies, and many other things.
I have not created any such thing yet but here is how it would work
The game world is devided into territories. These territories come in sizes, ranging from large to medium to small. The territory size will play an important factor in decision making.
The size of a territory determines the size of a base an entrenched player can build, which is determined by slots.
Large - 15 slots
Medium - 10 slots
Small - 5 slots
The size also determines how many troops can be fielded(defenders can field up to 150% many troops as normal) at one time.
(this only effects how many troops can attack per wave)
Wave sizes(explained later)
Huge – up to 400
Large - up to 250
Medium - up to 100
Small - up to 50
Tiny – up to 25
The territories would also have different enviroments. This is also important when developing strategies, especially for a human player.
List of enviroments(effects listed later)
Plains - a large open area that can be compared to coag on H2, but without the canyon walls.
Hills - A hilly area.
Mountains- A Mountain filled area, or on the side of a mountain. Expect to lose when attacking a defending force in this terrain.
Forest - A tree covered area, prime for infantry attacks.
Tundra - Snow covered plains, bad for vehicles.
Arctic - Snow covered, mountains and hills. A tread heads nightmare.
Wasteland - An area that has been destroyed by war, created by the use of superweapons.
Desert - Sand and heat, infantry beware.
Impassable - Oceans, chasms, etc. Each territory of these can only be moved over by air units.
The objective of the game. If one team manages to destroy the other teams HQ they win the game. They are place randomly on the map, but far apart.
They are normally fortified heavily, and automatically have a defending AI army.
Each attack uses up an army’s action for the day. During an attack waves are launched(size determined by size of map) and the amount that can be launched during an attack is determined by your supply level. During an attack wave there are up to four rounds (it may take a few for slower units to get into the fight).
The accuracy System works on a hit-die method(like D&D) or could use a percentage system(same concept though). There are several factors to take into account.
HP - The amount of damage a particular unit can take before it dies.
AP - The Amount of Damage a particular unit can deal per round.
DP - The amount of damage points a unit can absorb per wave e unit starts taking damage.
Armor - The level of this determines how much damage is needed to hurt a unit. Stacks with DP.
Speed - How fast the unit advances across the battle field.
Morale - amount of points that a particular group has before retreating(ending an attack wave before it dies or the total rounds are up). Determined by combining all units HP and then halving. However, the amount of morale drops with the amount of HP lost.
Range – How far a unit can shoot.
Lets say a UNSC Player is defending with 5 marines and a tank and a covie player is attacking with a squad of grunts, an elite, and a wraith. We will leave morale out of this example.
Lets say all of the marines are assault class. HP AP DP Armor Speed Morale Range Amount
Assault Marine 10 5 7 0 3 5 3 5
Scorpion 200 50 25 20 3 100 6 1
Grunt 6 2 3 0 2 3 2 12
Elite (assault) 15 5 12 0 3 7 3 1
Wraith 200 60 20 15 3 100 6 1
At first glance it appears that the UNSC are gonna lose. But this is not the case. Here is round one of combat on a small size map(6 range between attacker and defender at first).
Wraith Fires at Scorpion. Misses!
Grunts move 2 spaces forward.
Elite moves 3 spaces forward and open fires!
Hits Assault Marine1 for 5 damage!
You may have noticed that the wraith aimed at the Scorpion Instead of the Infantry. When attacking with tanks they will target other vehicles first. Lighter vehicles, such as a ghost would have targeted infantry. Infantry, unless its an AT infantry unit, will always target other infantry first. This is because they are easier to kill than other units for that specific unit type.
You also may have noticed that the damage was directed at one unit instead of the group. This is because all the firepower is directed at one single unit untill it dies. If three elites fired at that marine it would be dead and there would be left over AP. However, left over AP does not transfer over to the next unit. Your Units fire is calculated one at time so that once the marine is dead the rest of your units will begin attacking the next one, one at a time and so forth.
UNSC turn of round one.

I will stop showing the battle example here. If you want to know which side will win, it will most likely be the UNSC.
I should Give you the whole Unit List.
Well here it is:
UNSC HP AP DP Armor Speed Range Morale Accuracy Cost Reload time
Assault Marine 10 5 7 0 3 3 5 50% 15 0
Battle Marine 10 3 5 0 3 5 5 50% 15 0
Sniper 10 20 2 0 1 9 5 75% 35 1
AT 10 35 2 0 1 6 5 75% 45 2
Mongoose 40 5 7 1 6 3 20 50% 45 0
LAAG Warthog 80 10 12 3 5 5 40 33% 100 0
Gauss Hog 80 25 12 3 5 5 40 33% 155 0
Cougar(carry 6 infantry)60 5 12 3 5 3 30 50% 155 0
Scorpion 200 50 25 20 3 6 100 75% 450 0
Phew…. The more I look at the more complicated it gets. Maybe its to complicated for a forum game now but…… It might make a fun online multiplayer game if it was made someday. (thinks about capabilities of GMaker)
For a forum game i could make a spread sheet for you guys and use GM to create an auto die roll or hit chance program(so it automaticlly tells you wether it hit or not)
